Architype Millwork provides $2,000 Elite prize purse

We’re thrilled to announce that Architype Millwork & Cabinets, a longtime supporter of Frontrunners Fit Chiropractic Dodge City X, is providing a $2,000 prize purse for our 2023 Elite Race.

Frontrunners Fit Chiropractic Dodge City X, which has been dubbed “Canada’s toughest off-road triathlon,” is held each September in the Vancouver Island trail sports Mecca of Cumberland, BC. If features a 1.5-km swim in glacier-fed Comox Lake, a 23-km mountain bike through Cumberland’s legendary and world-class trail network, and finally a 9.5-km run over picturesque singletrack that features challenging climbs, twisty descents and the occasional ocean view. This year’s race is scheduled for September 9, 2023, with registration opening March 1. 

We introduced our Elite race last year with three athletes participating, and we hope the announcement of a prize purse, along with a reduced registration fee of just $35, will attract a larger field of professional cross triathletes. Cross triathlon presents a great opportunity for age group athletes to race on the same course alongside professional athletes, and all in all it’s a pretty special experience. This is the first time we’ve been able to offer a prize purse, and we’re super excited to see what the region’s top athletes will bring to the race.

The top three male and female finishers in our Elite race will receive cash prizes of $500, $300 and $200, respectively. Of course everyone is a winner at Dodge City X, and so every participant, elite or not, will also receive a finisher’s medal, race shirt and another special gift compliments of Steam Donkey Racing. Athletes wishing to compete in the Elite race are required to provide an International Competition Card or proof of previous registration in the Elite category of an XTERRA race. Architype’s provision of an elite prize purse is just the latest bit of excitement behind this year’s event as Frontrunners Fit Chiropractic Dodge City X 2023 will once again serve as the Canadian Cross Triathlon Age Group Championship and a qualifier for the 2024 Cross Triathlon World Championship in Townsville, Australia. Of course, it’s also a super fun event that attracts more casual and recreational athletes, particularly with our half-distance Sprint and Relay categories. The event is scheduled for September 10th, 2023 in Cumberland, BC, and we anticipate another strong turnout of skilled athletes from across the country.
