Getting to Cumberland for PACE Multisport Dodge City X

Cumberland is part of the Comox Valley, on the eastern flank of central Vancouver Island. It’s located approximately 1 hour north of Nanaimo, 3 hours north of Victoria and just 2.5 hours from Vancouver’s Horseshoe Bay via Nanaimo.

Race Central and Extreme Runners T2 for Dodge City X will be at Village Park in Cumberland, which is shown on the map below. This will be your first stop to set up your bike/run transition before proceeding to Comox Lake for the race start.

Race Central & T2: Village Park, Cumberland

Once you’ve set up your bike-to-run transition at Village Park, you’ll take your race gear to Cumberland Lake Campground at Comox Lake, about 5 km from Village Park and an ideal easy warm-up ride.

Please note that parking at the lake will be limited, so athletes are encouraged to ride to the start or get dropped off by a supporter. Thanks to our rockstar volunteer crew, your transition items from Extreme Runners T1 will be waiting for you at the finish area following the race. Make sure to thank them when you see them out on the course!

Getting Here by Air

The Comox Valley is served by the Comox Airport (YQQ), which is served by daily direct flights from Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Both WestJet and Air Canada fly to YQQ.

From Vancouver or elsewhere on the Mainland, take BC Ferries to Nanaimo from either Horseshoe Bay (north of Vancouver) or Tsawwassen (south of Vancouver). From Nanaimo, Cumberland is approximately one hour’s drive north up Highway 19 (the Inland Island Highway).
