An open letter to PACE Multisport Dodge City X volunteers

From the manky, wet desk of race director Ryan Parton

What can I possibly say that would even remotely represent the gratitude we feel for your contributions to Sundays’ resounding success of the inaugural PACE Multisport Dodge City X?

Maybe just this: THANK-YOU! Thank you thank you thank you!

As I watched so many smiling faces crossing that finish line in the most deplorable of West Coast conditions, I kept hearing the same refrain over and over from athletes: that ours were some of the most enthusiastic, dedicated and downright TOUGHEST volunteers they’d ever seen.

As with any first-time event, we didn’t do everything perfectly. Far from it, as I’m sure you know. What’s phenomenal is that none of the athletes seemed to know, because you and your fellow volunteers stepped up and made it happen. Freezing cold. Soaking wet. Flirting with windburn.

The performance of our volunteer army completely overwhelmed us. And on a personal note, if I’m being completely honest, I believe I shed a tear at one point reflecting on the fact that, among all the man things that could have gone wrong, not a single major thing did. And I have you to thank for that. So thank-you.

We truly appreciate your support, as we couldn’t have done any of this without you. We do hope to hear from you if you have something to share, and we definitely want to have you on our side again in 2019!

Thank you.

-Ryan and the PACE Multisport Dodge City X crew
